چکیده
The goal of this research paper is to summarise the literature on implementation of the Blockchain and similar digital ledger techniques in various other domains beyond its application to crypto-currency and to draw appropriate conclusions. Blockchain being relatively a new technology, a representative sample of research is presented, spanning over the last ten years, starting from the early work in this field. Different types of usage of Blockchain and other digital ledger techniques, their challenges, applications, security and privacy issues were investigated. Identifying the most propitious direction for future use of Blockchain beyond crypto-currency is the main focus of the review study. Blockchain (BC), the technology behind Bitcoin crypto-currency system, is considered to be essential for forming the backbone for ensuring enhanced security and privacy for various applications in many other domains including the Internet of Things (IoT) eco-system. International research is currently being conducted in both academia and industry applying Blockchain in varied domains. The Proof-of-Work (PoW) mathematical challenge ensures BC security by maintaining a digital ledger of transactions that is considered to be unalterable. Furthermore, BC uses a changeable

Beyond Bitcoin: The Rise of Blockchain World
Bitcoin was the first currency not controlled by a single entity (Nakamoto 2008). Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, built on blockchain technology. Initially known to only a few nerds and criminals it now has hundreds of thousands of daily transactions. Bitcoin has achieved values of more than US$15,000 per coin (as of the end of 2017). Rising value attracts attention. For some, Bitcoin is digital f...
متن کاملApplying Software Patterns to Address Interoperability Challenges in Blockchain-based Healthcare Apps
Since the inception of Bitcoin technology, its underlying data structure–the blockchain–has garnered much attention due to properties such as decentralization, transparency, and immutability. These properties make blockchains suitable for apps that require disintermediation through trustless exchange, consistent and incorruptible transaction records, and operational models beyond cryptocurrency...
متن کاملThe Blockchain Technology: Some Theory and Applications
Since its 2008 appearance as a cornerstone of the cryptocurrency bitcoin, the blockchain technology gained widespread attention as a modality to securily validate and store information without a trusted third party. Indeed trust is replaced by cryptographic security, epitomised by hash functions, a unique fingerprint of any information file. The paper is a quick overview of the main concepts an...
